Scenography

The main elements on stage are the dancer, the avatar, and the digital instrument. The scenography creates a situation in which dancer and avatar can closely approach each other, seemingly inhabiting the same space. The digital instrument is invisible as an object and instead establishes a very close connection to the avatar's motions through sound.

The loudspeaker setup is simple and consists of two loudspeakers placed at the back of the stage. A video beamer projects the avatar's image on a semitransparent screen hanging in the middle of the stage covering its entire width. The dancer is free to move in front or behind the screen and to approach closely to highlight her relationship to the avatar. The light setup includes four LED spotlights, two hanging in front of the screen and two behind. By changing the light intensity, the visibility of the dancer and the avatar can be altered, making either of them entirely disappear or possessing equal visibility.

Do you have a general principle with which you translate musical characteristics into movement?
